No, that is not just my opinion, it’s the new show that is now playing at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  This is replacing the previous show, High School Musical 3: Senior Year – Right Here! Right Now! The new Disney Channel Rocks! show is following the same format as the previous three shows (if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it, right?).  The show features a rolling stage that comes down Hollywood Blvd. to its place in front of the Sorcerer’s Hat. On the way in the Disney singers and dancers get the crowd moving with a medley of songs, which include: “The Party’s Just Begun” (Cheetah Girls 2) “Party Up” (Starstruck); and “Live to Party” (JONAS L.A. theme song).

Next, is a very entertaining girls-against-guys dance contest.  The show then gets the audience involved for the song “Heart and Soul” from Camp Rock 2.  The plus here is that all the kids are invited to participate in some way, where the previous High School Musical show only selected 4 children to help the performers.  The show concludes with a medley of upbeat songs about unity and completeness.

As the float pulls away to head back down Hollywood Boulevard, the performers dance to songs from current releases and shows.  For example, Selena Gomez’s theme song for Shake It Up, a new Disney Channel TV show that debuts Nov. 7.  This keeps the show fresh; Disney can change the music without changing the entire performance.

Disney Channel Rocks! plays daily at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Orlando Tourist Tip:  The best seats for this show are front and center.  To get a spot in the front, guests should line up behind the rope to the right of the Sorcerer’s Hat (the same side that leads to Animation Courtyard). Once the float has passed and parked, a cast member will lead those along the rope to the center seating section.
