That’s the latest from the International Association of Golf Tour Operators which awarded Orlando the top spot in North America. Orlando was voted “North American Golf Destination of the Year 2010” at it’s annual International awards ceremony in Spain. The award in good part was won due to “Orlando’s premier service provided to golfers and tour operators” and the “quality and sheer number of facilities available.”

According to the Orlando Convention and Visitors Bureau there are 177 golf courses in the Orlando metropolitan area plus 23 golf academies and is host to more professional golf competitions than any other city. The year round weather in Orlando is conducive to golfing most days of the year.

Some of the best (and priciest) golf courses include the Grand Cypress located in Lake Buena Vista, multiple courses located on Disney property, to the venerable Bay Hill home to the Annual Arnold Palmer golf tournament in the spring. For those not wanting to spend a fortune on a round of golf there are numerous other beautiful and challenging courses, though not as acclaimed in Central Florida.

Book a golf outing now while the Orlando area weather is gorgeous and crowds are small.
