If you are visiting Florida October 14th thru 17th, you will be in town for the 18th annual Biketoberfest event.  If you ride a motorcycle and are interested in attending this event, there are several places where you can rent one, including EagleRider rentals and most of the Harley-Davidson dealerships.  If you don’t ride a motorcycle, that’s okay, you are welcome to come in a car to the events, although the parking may be difficult in some areas.  There will be a surge of motorcycles in town, although this probably will not affect the theme parks, the bikers will generally stick to the biker-themed events going on.  This is a people-watching event where you never know what you will see.  There will be some very unique motorcycles, and just as many unique people.  Some of the many events include wet T-shirt contests, best buns contests, and the famous Rat’s Hole custom bike show that will be held at the water park, Daytona Lagoon on Oct. 16thDaytona Beach is the main location for Biketoberfest, however, there are many other Biketoberfest celebrations going on all around central Florida that are worth going to.  Many have FREE concerts and custom motorcycle shows, as well as other biker-related events including games and contests.  There is bike-only parking down Main Street in Daytona and most other locations.

Main Street Daytona is loaded with bars, vendors, food, and live music.  Visit the famous Boot Hill Saloon, The Bank & Blues Club, Dirty Harry’s, The Full Moon Saloon and more!  They all have events going on throughout this 4-day party.

Outside of Daytona, some of the places to see during Biketoberfest include Hogtoberfest at Orlando Harley-Davidson, where they will be having free concerts, a car and bike show, and Ball of Steel stunt show.  Sopotnick’s Cabbage Patch Bar in Samsula will have lots of vendors and events including their famous Coleslaw Wrestling.  The Iron Horse Saloon in Ormond Beach will host Wall of Death shows daily, as well as burn-outs in their famous burn- out pit.  Willie’s Tropical Tattoo (also in Ormond Beach) will host their annual old-school bike show, Chopper Time 2010, on Thursday the 14th.   Also on the 14th, Porkie’s Original BBQ in Apopka will have a kickoff party with a Daisy Dukes contest during their weekly Thursday night bike night, from 6-10pm.  The Daytona International Speedway will be packed with vendors, as well as a bikini contest and they will have demo rides from the top motorcycle manufacturers (Must have motorcycle endorsement on your license to try a demo). Bruce Rossmeyer’s Destination Daytona will have plenty of live music and vendors on hand.  Gilly’s Pub 44 in New Smyrna Beach (next to New Smyrna Harley-Davidson) has a full food menu, and will host wet T-shirt and bikini contests.

There will be lots more to see and do, many great places to ride motorcycles, and great weather is expected.  Please see individual sites for schedule of events, and remember all events are not suitable for children. And, as always, PLEASE watch out for motorcycles, whether you are on 2 wheels or more.  Look twice, save a life!
