The Sanford Orlando Airport is as their slogan says, “SFB” – simpler, faster, better. It is conveniently located north of Orlando and a short drive to the east coast of Florida and many destinations north of Orlando.
This airport is definitely simpler than OIA. With only one main terminal, navigating to your ticket counter, gate and luggage is very simple. The ‘faster’ in their slogan comes from not having as long of lines as other airports. Even during the holidays, your wait time for security is normally under one hour. If these two attributes make this airport ‘better’ then Orlando Sanford International Airport lives up to its slogan.

My Experience at SFB
Having flown in and out of the Sanford Orlando Airport several times, I must admit, you cannot beat it. The parking is close by and affordable. They offer covered parking and a less expensive lot that is not covered, yet still fairly close. The cell phone lot is close by, making it convenient to pick up visiting guests. While you’re waiting, check out the historic airplane! This airport is very easy to navigate, even for the first-time flyer.
When paired with the flight deals available with Allegiant, it can be a very inexpensive way to fly in and out of the Orlando area. This airline has had some bad press in years past, however, they seem to have improved their maintenance and personnel issues. Just note, if you miss your flight, or the flight gets canceled, you could be stuck at your location for several days until another scheduled flight is available. On one of my flights, Allegiant was able to get another airline to make up their canceled flight, arriving at 2:30 a.m. Late, but home nevertheless. They were even nice enough to provide a meal voucher. On another note: Be prepared to fly with a lot of kids on this airline. It is a cheap way for families to fly to Orlando to visit the theme parks! Most people from the Orlando area are very used to flying with a lot of children onboard. ORLANDO TOURIST TIP: Bring your headphones – you know the ones – with noise canceling capabilities!
