If you love animal attractions, you’re in luck this month. Two Central Florida zoos are offering admission deals this month. You can even score free admission tickets for your children!

Central Florida ZooThe Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens, located at 3755 NW Hwy. 17-92 in Sanford, FL is offering free admission for two children (12 and younger) on Saturday, August 23 when accompanied by a paying adult. You must present the coupon found on the Orlando Family Magazine’s web site. There will be special activities offered by the magazine from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Even if you cannot attend the zoo on this date, the cost of admission is reasonable and is a great experience for everyone in your family or group.

If you’ve not been to this zoo lately, you’ll love all of the improvements and additional features that have been incorporated. The zoo includes more than 500 animals representing nearly 200 species. The new giraffe exhibit even allows your family to feed the giraffes (additional charge). ORLANDO TOURIST TIP: Since it is hot this August, bring a swimsuit and cool off in the new Wharton-Smith Tropical Splash Ground! This is great for the young ones and is included in regular zoo admission.

Lowry Park ZooIf you are in the Tampa area, check out the Lowry Park Zoo. During the month of August, they are offering U.S. military and Florida first responders free weekday admission. To get this deal, you must register on their site at lowryparkzoo.com/Hero, print the voucher and present it with your qualifying identification at the ticket window. ORLANDO TOURIST TIP: Each qualifying military member or first responder gets to have a free guest, as well as purchase up to four additional one-day admission tickets at half price! If you are a first responder, military dependent or service member, you should not pass up this deal.

mother and baby gorillaAnother excellent place to see animal attractions is at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Free or cheap tickets to this Orlando theme park are rarely found. If you know of any great ticket deals, be sure to let us know. If you love gorillas, you’ll want to check out the baby gorilla born a few days ago (August 7). It’s a boy! So far everything is going well for the little guy who will be named soon. His mother is Azizi and the father’s name is Gino. This is the fourth gorilla born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

There are many other animal attractions located in Central Florida. Be sure to check out our list and their individual web sites. Now that the children are returning to school, why not treat them to a trip to the zoo or animal park? It will be a fun and inexpensive learning experience.
