New Parade at Orlando Theme Park: Magic Kingdom

Festival of Fantasy ParadeEveryone loves a parade, and Magic Kingdom has a new parade that will delight guests of all ages attending this Orlando theme park. The new parade made its debut on Sunday, March 9, 2014. Guests lined the route hours before the parade began to be the first to witness the newly detailed floats.

Disney characters from several decades fill the parade. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pluto, Pinoccio, Beauty and the Beast and many other classics dance their way through the parade route. New characters are also featured including the very first float. The Princess Garden, like most of the floats in the new Parade, moves and rotates so that you can see Tiana and Naveen as well as Anna and Elsa, the “frozen” sisters.

Nine featured floats have moving parts, and the detail is fabulous. From small flowers to tall heights, every aspect is impressive. Some floats are as tall as three-story buildings! Most notable is the steampunkish dragon. It roars and breathes fire, much to the crowd’s delight.

The many moving parts on the floats, as well as the dancers, keep the parade moving right along. Everything is perfectly choreographed, from the Scottish jig that the “Brave” float dancers perform, to the “Peter Pan” Lost Boys, even the dragon’s tail moves with precision. ORLANDO TOURIST TIP: If you have a little one, try to find a location to watch the parade so that they can be in front. The dancers often interact with the guests, and children are usually the focus of the parade characters. Have your camera ready. The dancers must stay in their routine, so they will not stay to visit or pose.

As with all things Disney, the Festival of Fantasy Parade is nothing short of spectacular. Main Street U.S.A. is filled with an original soundtrack (inspired by favorite Disney films), and its own voice for each float that comes by. It is a total experience visually and through sound.

If you are visiting this Orlando theme park in the coming weeks, make sure to take a break and watch the new parade. It travels through the Magic Kingdom every day at 3:00 p.m. Be sure to wave to Minnie and Mickey as they float by in their very own hot air balloon!
