Fantasy of Flight Reopens Plus Other Museum-like Discounts

Between Orlando and Tampa is a museum created especially for plane-lovers and those who are interested in all things flight related. Some Florida residents and tourists were lucky enough to see the Central Florida museum prior to the closing last year in April. Fantasy of Flight is now back open, albeit a smaller attraction.

Gone are several of the fun things to do (especially for the young ones), such as the ropes course and immersion environments. Also kept on hold are the restoration tours, aircraft-of-the-day events and the restaurant. The attraction now consists of what most true museums feature and that is a display. In this case, some of a plane enthusiasts favorite aircraft, including the 1945 North American P-51D Mustang, 1944 B-24J Liberator and 1945 Grumman Duck.

If you want to go for a bi-plane ride, Waldo Wrights Flying Service will be offering flights for an additional fee. A Boeing Stearman PT-17/N2S-3 will provide rides between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Reservations are recommended, and the cost will run around $239 for approximately 30 minutes for a non-aerobatic flight. Be sure to have your photo taken as it can be a great souvenir or Facebook profile picture! Take your camera with you on the flight, but make sure it has a strap!

Florida Resident Discount at WonderWorks

WonderWorks BuildingAnother museum-like attraction open year-round on International Drive in Orlando is offering a discount to Florida residents. SeaWorld BOGO offerIf you’ve been waiting for a great deal on annual passes to SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica, now is the time to get them! It isn’t often Orlando theme parks offer BOGO (Buy One, Get One) deals on their annual passes, so take advantage of this deal now. SeaWorld is a great park to visit over and over again, and this is the most affordable way to do that.

Annual pass members receive unlimited admission, free general parking, 10% off food, beverages and merchandise, plus other exclusive benefits. For as little as $156, you and another friend or family member can visit SeaWorld next year as often as you’d like. Add an additional $24 ($180) and you can include Aquatica in your plans too!

The benefits of this BOGO offer don’t stop there either. If you are an Annual Passholder, and you have friends or relatives coming into town, you will receive a discount on single-day admission for up to six people on the date of their visit! You will also receive a discount on certain Adventure Camps for your children. It is a great deal, especially when the second pass is FREE!

ORLANDO TOURIST TIP: Purchase your passes online so you’ll have free parking the very first time you go. This deal is only available in advance – not at the park’s gate and expires February 28, 2015. It is restricted to residents of the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. Also, there is a limit of six, but hey, that still means you’ll get 12 annual passes for the price of 6!

Considering one-day tickets are $95 for adults ($90/ages 3-9), an Annual Pass just makes good sense, especially if you plan to attend this Orlando theme park more than once. With the new Clyde & Seamore sea lion show, “Clyde & Seamore’s Sea Lion High,” debuting in the spring, you’ll definitely want to include SeaWorld in your plans for fun things to do in 2015.

  • “Elmo’s Christmas Wish,” a stage show with Sesame Street characters.
  • The Sea of Trees, installed above the theme park’s central lagoon, this light show is set to holiday music.

If you’ve thought about purchasing tickets to this Orlando theme park in the past, but didn’t, this is your chance to save big on attraction tickets. Your pre-schooler can go with dad one day and grandma the next visit.

Duplo Valley Opening Soon

The new Duplo Valley expansion is scheduled to open May 23, 2014. You and your children will enjoy farm-themed attractions, an air-conditioned play area (Duplo Barn revamped) and a water feature built in mind for kids 2 – 5 years of age. Discovery Cove – New Baby & Discounted Offers

It’s a girl! Discovery Cove is the proud birthplace of a female dolphin born March 18th. She is the 28th dophin to be born at the Orlando attraction since it opened in 2000. She is the fourth calf born to mother, Natalie.

The baby dolphin weights around 48 pounds and is 47 inches long. The Discovery Cove Zoological Team provides around-the-clock care for the mother and her baby. Another mother, Rose, is also watched carefully with her calf born on February 12. These four dolphins are currently kept in a behind-the-scenes pool.

Discovery Cove Baby Dolphin and Mother

If you are a Florida resident, you might want to try to get a peek at the new baby dolphin. Discovery Cove has brought back their Florida Resident Discount again. Although there are a lot of blackout dates, it is still one of the best discounted offers you’ll find. Not so much because of the price, but what it also includes.

This park offers a chance to get up close with the dolphins, and you may hand-feed exotic birds, view a wide range of tropical fish, see rays and other sea creatures. Your package includes a light continental breakfast, lunch, beverages and snacks. You also receive sunscreen (safe for use around dolphins), snorkel equipment, lockers, a wetsuit and towels. That’s a great deal! Maybe this is why Discovery Cove was ranked #1 in the “Top 25 Amusement Parks & Water Parks in The World” category in 2013 TripAdvisor’s Traveler’s Choice Awards.

Why This Discounted Deal is Such a Great Bargain

Dolphin Swim Day Resort Packages start at $219 per person. If you don’t care to swim with the dolphins, those theme park tickets start at $149. ORLANDO TOURIST TIP: What a lot of people don’t know about this special offer is that with this purchase, you also receive unlimited admission to SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica for 2 weeks around the date of your reservation! Upgrade your package for $22 and you can include Busch Gardens Tampa Bay in this deal! This is a fantastic bargain if you have a couple of weeks to spend at the area’s theme parks.

With SeaWorld celebrating their 50th anniversary, there is a lot going on. “Sea of Surprises” will be a year-long event. When you visit this theme park, consider yourself lucky if you run into the surprise squad. They roam about the park giving out merchandise, ride passes and more. Not only that, but the killer whale show “One World” has returned.

Dates to Use This Ticket Deal

Now for the blackout dates… You cannot use this discounted theme park ticket April 1 – 21 or from June 1 – August 31. You have to use it before the end of the year, and it must be purchased before May 31st. So again, if you are a Florida resident, and know in advance that you’ll have a couple weeks to play at our theme parks during these available periods, this is a great deal. My suggestion would be to hit it in early May. The water is warm, the crowds are not as large and the summer thunderstorms usually hold off.
